Attempted Strong Arm Robbery

Type of Incident Reported: Attempted Strong Arm Robbery
Date/Time of Incident: 1/23/19 / 9:00pm
Location: 200 Block of Leland Ave. Palo Alto (Leland Ave. is off El Camino Real between Stanford Ave. and Park Ave.)
Suspect Information: Black Male, Bald, 40's, 6 feet, 200 pounds, black hooded sweatshirt and pants, carrying a large, partially full black garbage bag.

Additional Details:
The suspect approached the victim who was walking on Leland Ave. and demanded his cell phone. The victim refused and ran away after the suspect took a swing at him but missed. The suspect ran after him but stopped after a distance. The victim reported the same suspect had earlier approached another pedestrian and demanded an iPad the pedestrian was holding. The pedestrian refused and also ran away. Before the suspect approached the victims, he was observed talking to himself. Palo Alto PD immediately responded to the area but could not locate the suspect who remains at large. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Palo Alto PD Communications Center at (650)329-2413 (24/7).
