Incident: Bike thefts from campus

Date and Time: 9/1 - 9/9, varied times

Location: Campus Residential areas

Additional details: Between September 1st and September 9th, 12 bike thefts have been reported to the Stanford University Department of Public Safety (SUDPS). 10 of the 12 bikes were locked at the time of the theft. There are no known witnesses to these crimes and no suspect information.

9/1 – One bicycle reported stolen from the area of the Munger Graduate Residences
9/1 – One bicycle reported stolen from the area of Stern Hall
9/4 – One bicycle reported stolen from the area of Studio 2
9/6 - Three bicycles reported stolen from the area of Studio 2
9/6 – One bicycle reported stolen from the area of Rains Houses
9/6 – One bicycle reported stolen from the area of Studio 5
9/8 – One bicycle reported stolen from the area of Studio 5
9/8 – One bicycle reported stolen from the area of Studio 6
9/9 – One bicycle reported stolen from the area of the Kennedy Graduate Residences
9/9 – One bicycle reported stolen from the area of the Munger Graduate Residences

Prevention tips:
Be attentive to your surroundings and promptly report suspicious activities by calling 9-1-1. Provide as much detailed information when reporting. Suspicious activity can include: Utilizing hand tools to remove a bicycle, utilizing power tools to remove a bicycle, pushing/possessing multiple bicycles, carrying a locked bicycle, loitering for an extended amount of time near a bicycle parking area, taking an extended amount of time looking at multiple bicycles, trying to conceal oneself when observed, riding one bicycle to a bike rack and leaving on a different bicycle.

This timely warning is being sent in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Act.
