Type of Incident Reported: Vehicle Burglaries and Attempted Vehicle Burglary

Date/Time of Incidents: September 26, 2021 and September 27, 2021

Date Reported to DPS: September 27, 2021

Locations: Stanford Golf Course parking lot; TMU parking lot; Stanford Driving Range parking lot

Details: The Stanford University Department of Public Safety (SUDPS) has received 5 reports of vehicle burglaries and 1 attempted vehicle burglary. Four of the burglaries occurred at the Stanford Golf Course parking lot (80 Links Road). The time frame of these burglaries is September 27, 2021 between 10am and 5:30pm. One burglary occurred at the Tresidder Memorial Union parking lot between 12:30pm and 1:35pm on September 27, 2021. The attempted vehicle burglary occurred at the Stanford Driving Range parking lot (51 Campus Drive) on September 26, 2021 between 5pm-6pm.

Safety Recommendations: The Department of Public Safety encourages anyone who observes suspicious behavior or activity in a parking lot or garage to call 9-1-1 immediately. Examples of suspicious activity include:

  • Someone loitering around vehicles, looking underneath or into parked vehicles
  • A person trying door handles of multiple vehicles
  • Vehicles stopped behind or nearby parked vehicles in a way that could conceal criminal activity
  • Activated car alarms

This timely warning is being sent to you in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act.
